Description
Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory condition in which excessive oxidative stress plays a major role. This stress results from a disturbance in the balance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and the body’s antioxidant defense systems, ultimately contributing to the breakdown of periodontal tissues. Enzymatic antioxidants, including superoxide dismutase, help neutralize ROS, thereby limiting cellular damage and supporting the preservation of periodontal structures.
